CBP Officer Injured During Immigration Operation In CA

As posted by @DHSgov on X: "At 7:05AM PST, DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Compton, California, to arrest a violent criminal illegal alien from El Salvador, William Eduardo Moran Carballo, who is involved in a human smuggling operation and has two prior arrests for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. An immigration judge issued him a final order of removal in 2019. In a dangerous attempt to evade arrest, this criminal illegal alien weaponized his vehicle and rammed law enforcement. Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired defensive shots. The criminal illegal alien was not hit and attempted to flee on foot. He was successfully apprehended by law enforcement. The illegal alien was not injured, but a CBP officer was injured. These dangerous attempts to evade arrest have surged since sanctuary politicians, including Governor Newsom, have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest and provided guides advising illegal aliens how to recognize ICE, block entry, and defy arrest. Our officers are now facing a 3,200% increase in vehicle attacks." Stay with SNC for more on this developing story.

Trump Speaks In Davos, Addresses Greenland

President Donald Trump took the stage at the World Economic Forum on Wednesday, using his global address to promote America’s economic strength, energy dominance, and America-First agenda. Trump highlighted what he called the United States’ economic resurgence, crediting tariffs and domestic production for making the U.S. “the economic engine on the planet.” He contrasted that success with Europe, criticizing high energy costs and wind power, saying European nations are “destroying themselves” with policies that weaken growth. A major focus of Trump’s remarks was Greenland, which he described as a critical strategic asset for U.S. and global security. The president called the Arctic territory “our territory,” arguing that American control is necessary to protect international shipping lanes and national security interests. Trump emphasized that he does not intend to use force, but said immediate negotiations with Denmark are needed. The president also addressed Venezuela, predicting its oil industry will thrive with U.S. involvement and cooperation, and reiterated that American leadership is key to stabilizing global energy markets. Trump’s speech was punctuated with humor and sharp one-liners that drew laughter and applause from the Davos audience, underscoring his message that America’s economic model — not global bureaucracy — is driving growth and prosperity.

Clintons Facing House Contempt Over Epstein Investigation

House Republicans are moving to hold former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress over their refusal to comply with subpoenas related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. If enforced, the action would mark the first time a former U.S. president has faced this congressional penalty. The Clintons have declined for months to provide testimony requested by the House Oversight Committee, arguing that the subpoenas are invalid. Lawmakers say contempt proceedings could set the stage for a potential criminal referral to the Department of Justice, which might result in prosecution. The Oversight Committee, led by Chairman Rep. James Comer, initiated the proceedings as part of its ongoing probe into Epstein’s network and the involvement of high-profile figures.

Forecasters warn of major winter storm across US this weekend

The U.S. is bracing for a major winter storm this weekend as forecasters track an Arctic air mass moving south from Canada. The frigid air is expected to clash with rain, creating a mix of heavy snow, ice, and freezing rain across much of the nation. The National Weather Service warns of “great swaths of heavy snow, sleet, and treacherous freezing rain” starting Friday in the central U.S. and shifting toward the East Coast through Sunday. Northern states will remain in a deep freeze from polar air, while southern states face the risk of ice accumulation and potential power outages. Major airports in Dallas, Atlanta, Memphis, and Charlotte are expected to experience delays or cancellations as the storm moves eastward. Travelers are advised to monitor local forecasts and plan accordingly. Meteorologists say the storm could be “widespread and potentially catastrophic” from Texas to the Carolinas, emphasizing caution for residents in the affected regions. For the latest updates and interactive maps of the storm’s path, visit the National Weather Service website.

President Donald Trump’s Air Force One was forced to turn back to Joint Base Andrews shortly after departing for Switzerland on Tuesday, the White House confirmed. Officials say the crew identified a minor electrical issue mid-flight and returned out of an abundance of caution. There was no threat to safety, and the president’s schedule was not disrupted. Trump later continued his trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos aboard a backup Air Force aircraft, a modified Boeing 757 typically used for domestic trips to smaller airports. The White House emphasized that the incident was purely precautionary, and the president is expected to participate in all scheduled events in Switzerland.

Trump says US and NATO will reach agreement on Greenland soon

President Donald Trump expressed optimism Tuesday that the United States and NATO will soon reach an agreement over Greenland, the Arctic territory of NATO member Denmark. Speaking to reporters at the White House before departing for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump emphasized the deal would satisfy both sides. “I think that we will work something out where NATO is going to be very happy and where we're going to be very happy, but we need it for security purposes. We need it for national security and even world security,” Trump said. Trump has also shared AI-generated images on social media depicting himself planting a U.S. flag on Greenland, highlighting the high-profile and unconventional approach to the Arctic region. European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, have cautioned against yielding to pressure, emphasizing respect for international law and multilateral agreements. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney also expressed opposition to U.S. tariffs related to Greenland. White House officials defended the administration’s strategy. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said tariffs are a legitimate tool for protecting national security, while Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick noted past trade disputes with Europe ultimately resolved successfully. Trump’s renewed tariff threats have rattled global markets. On Tuesday, U.S. stock indexes closed sharply lower, while Treasury yields rose amid uncertainty over trade and Arctic security negotiations.
